July 30th, 2014, we all gathered at the Salt Lake City airport to await the arrival of our favorite Sister Smith- after 18 months of a mission in Michigan, she was on her way home!
We were all very excited to see her...
And then, there she was!
We stopped for a burger at Carl's Jr. and ate some food whilst soaking up some Wendy vibes... We are so proud of her!
The next day, Wendy had two interviews with elementary schools- she got both jobs and ended up taking the one in Provo teaching 2nd grade. Pretty impressive...
Three days later, we had a fabulous Mexican fiesta with a giant Nacho bar to celebrate Wendy's return. Cousins, grandparents and even some friends and Wendy's first mission president came to see her home. It was great!
Three weeks later, Wendy spoke at her homecoming and did such a fabulous job. She spoke for a good 20 minutes and never once looked down at her notes. She told some great stories about her investigators and miracles she witnessed on the mission. So many people keep saying "I'm really going to miss your emails, Wendy! Can you keep sending them out?" She always had so many stories and funny things to talk about... Grandpa Norviel said "I kind of miss that Wendy-on-a-stick. She's been to every family party for the last 18 months!" But, I don't miss the Wendy-on-a-stick. I'm perfectly happy to see the real Wendy!
