Hyrum's class did a great (meaning so much work) project called "Images of Greatness." Each student picked a person from History to research and then they presented all of their finished work for the families. Hyrum picked Walt Disney- he was great for researching and we found some great books, stories and pictures about Walt. Not only that, but Hyrum got to wear a mustache.
His projects included a Time Magazine cover, a Venn diagram, a poster, scrap book pages and a roller coaster representing Walt's life. Pretty impressive.
He also had to write a 'bio-riddle' describing Walt's life in poetry AND memorize it to present that night. Hyrum did a great job, even if he speaks in fast forward...:)
This is the Hander's Club. Xavier, Hyrum, Corbin, Jonathan and Maxwell (not pictured, Zach). They are the boys who decided to change the rules of soccer and start using their hands for everything. Now they just call themselves the Handers and they do lots of stuff together- I love that Hyrum is making some great friends! (Even if they are a little strange...)
On the way out of the building, Hyrum was holding the door open as we went out. He continued to hold it for a bit and one of the men said "Thank you Walt." Hyrum thought that was pretty funny.
Here's his bioriddle:
Bio Riddle
Born on December 5, 1905,
In a family with 4 siblings I did thrive.
Because my dad was really strict and mean
My brothers all ran away when they turned eighteen.
To go to the theater, I was forbidden
So I snuck out the window again and again.
My love for the theater was really great
So when I went there, I was home late.
I married a woman named Lillian Bounds,
who first was a worker on factory grounds.
I had two children, Diane and Shannon Mae,
I had a hard time finding a job that would pay.
So I started a business putting girls in cartoons
I created a rabbit who was stolen by a goon.
I made a character who got me some money,
Everybody liked him and he was funny.
I used that money to build a park
For kids and adults to have a lark.
That park was awesome, everyone said so.
I made a new one and you should go.
I changed the world with my skill of art.
I had more plans I wanted to start.
I smoked too much, I got cancer in my lung,
I died when I was 64 years young.
Who am I? Walt Disney
