Now that Weston is eight, we have TWO Cub Scouts in our family. That makes events like this even more fun, right? The boys certainly had fun putting together their boats for the Raingutter Regata (all on their own, complete with paper canons and all). Their leaders, Sister Smith and Sister Dennison, did a great job with all of it- the Construction theme, the signs, the sack lunches, hats and bandannas- it was super!
We started with awards (Weston got his Bobcat and Hyrum got his Showmanship pin plus two belt loops)
Then we ate some sandwiches, chips, water, pudding cups and grapes- all sack lunch style.
After that was the Raingutter Regata Race. The boys put their boats in the water and blew them down the gutter with a straw. It took a couple tries to figure out the best way to blow to get the boat to GO and not tip over.
In the end, Weston won the trophy- I was worried his boat wouldn't even float (he and Lexi put it all together with no measuring, wrong glue, crooked rudders and all) and yet he won it all. I will never doubt Weston again. :)
To finish it up, we had a cake exchange- we made the Hamburger and French Fries cakes- I feel like they turned out just perfect for a pack meeting...
Until next year- Round of Applause!
