So, Zach was pretty much busy ALL summer- between Kentucky AP test grading, Youth Conference, Scout Camp, conferences, Scout projects, etc I feel like he was gone all but 2 weekends all of June and July. So, when we found out there was a Belnap reunion up the mountains on the same weekend as his "high adventure campout" (staying in a condo in St. George) with the priests, I said 'why not?' Use some gas to get a free day of playing in the mountains and free food- sounds great! We couldn't talk any of Zach's family into coming with us so I just packed up the kids and followed the map out into the middle of no where, up a mountain, down a dirt road until we finally found a sort of civilization with Zach's Grandma B, Uncle Francis and Darlene, Phil and Barbara and Beverly with her two grandsons at the cabins there. The boys LOVED it. Dirt, sticks, rocks, fire, TWO zip lines, logs to build stuff with, food, 22 rifles... perfect. The small zip line was such they could climb up it and go down it over and over and over with out any help. The big zip line was BIG and required the assistance of Uncle Phil and Uncle Francis's brother- thanks to them, the boys got to try flying- it was seriously 25 feet off the ground, at least! We made some crafts, visited with the family, ate and ate some more, shot rifles at targets- did I hit my target on the first try? Yes, yes I did. I had to live up to my reputation as a Policeman's daughter, right? One of my favorite things was the pictures on the walls of the cabin- the family, Uncle Francis's brother's wife's family (got that?)- raised a litter of Timberwolves from pups to full grown wolves and also raised three cougar kittens to full grown cougars. Someday I will have a cougar kitten to raise. Anyway, it was a fun little outing and we were ready to sleep when we got home!
