A Rubber Duck Derby, an Archeological block party and a swim at Snowbird

Sometimes we just have days full of adventure- Saturday was one of those days. we started the morning by picking up Madison and heading to BYU for a Rubber Duck Derby. And what does that consist of? Hundreds of people waiting in line to buy a rubber duck to race down the canal, obviously. Who knew it was such a popular sport? We did our fair share of waiting and were finally rewarded with ducks to decorate and J-Dawgs to eat while we waited for our 'heat' (we were in the 9th race).
The kids had great skills in decorating ducks
and Afton loved the party.
When our race came up, all the ducks were thrown into the canal at the starting line and then released to float down the path- getting stuck in the rocks and unstuck by the duck-savers with nets along the way.
Weston's stayed up at the front and ended up in 7th place while Maddy and Hyrum's both got stuck at different times and hung out at the back of the race. Maddy was ashamed of her duck but decided to claim it in the end...
Next, we walked a couple blocks over to the Museum of People's and Cultures to do our favorite things like sand painting, making petroglyphs, digging for arrow heads and watching the Native American dancers. It's an annual tradition of ours...
Weston digging up sea shells, pottery and arrow heads.
Maddy found one! Hyrum thinks if he looks hard enough, he'll find one- without using his hands. :)
I love to watch the dancers because it reminds me of New Mexico a little bit. This is the Shawl dance.
The favorite is the Hoop dance- this guy is amazing and has won all kinds of competitions for it.
Turns out, he's also going to be on So You Think You Can Dance this season- I'll be watching!
Next part of the adventure: Swimming at Snowbird! Turns out Zach didn't want to go and no one else could come so I packed up the kids and we went ourselves. Fortunately, they've re-done the family pool and it was AmAzInG and warm!
Hyrum and his Super floaties
Weston water dancing
The snow around the edge of the pool- at least 10 feet high! As long as the water is warm, I'm okay with that...

Afton love LOVED the pool and was sad when we got out- I'm afraid she's going to be a wild water baby. Watch out Seven Peaks!

After swimming, Maddy got the mac and cheese made while I got the kids in the tub and dressed in their jams. Then we enjoyed a little dinner with our Disney channel- What a day! I hope the kids enjoyed it!

We went to the Hot Springs here in like March. It was kind of fun to see snow and such around the edges, kind of like you. Sounds like a crazy, but fun day!
