Kentucky Week

Every year Daddy heads off to Kentucky for 8 days to grade AP tests so to survive the 'single mom' days I have to think of fun things to do.  This year, I didn't do much planning ahead so the night after Zach left, I stayed up late thinking of themes for each day- until I found the calendar of National holidays for each day-perfect!
We started with a lovely Ocean dinner to celebrate Ocean day.
Then, we had a Donald Duck day- we watched the first Disney show Donald Duck was ever in. Did you know the same guy did Donald's voice for 50 years? Clarence Nash finally died in 1985 still doing the voice for Donald Duck. Wow.
The Tuesday was Ball point pen day.  We got new pens and did some research on them. We learned how to draw with ball point pens...

Weston, Mommy and Hyrum drew some elephants! I'd never done ball point pen drawings before and it was definitely different.  Afton followed the instructions for a bunny and did a great job.

Wednesday was Corn on the Cob day- we ate corn, on the cob, of course!
Thursday, was a great day.  Peanut butter cookie day/Eat Beef Jerky day/Superman day!  I stayed up way too late Wednesday night making Superman shirts for the kids to wear- it was worth it.:)  Then we cleaned out the garage, went to Seven Peaks, ate Beef Jerky, got pizza, made Peanut butter cookies (oh, the cookie dough. I just can't help but snitch it) and then watched the first Superman. It was pretty epic.

Anika just hung out being cute...

Friday we celebrated Banana Split day with Maama who came for piano.  Who doesn't love Banana split day?

This was a  great way to pass the time until our Daddy came home!
