The boys had their primary program today and I couldn't be more proud of them! Hyrum was one of the very first to speak. Although he had his part memorized he still took up his paper to read so he "wouldn't have to look at all the eyeballs." He said "The scriptures say to feast upon the words of Christ. To feast means to eat a lot and when you eat food, it goes inside of you. So, to feast upon the words of Christ means to read the scriptures every day and do what they say." At the very end, Hyrum was in a quartet of four older boys in the ward who sang the second verse of "Called to Serve" all by themselves. He looked so spiffy up there singing in his suit that it brought a little tear to my eye to think how grown up he is! (That's what Maama said too- she and Pa and Wendy and Cindy came over just to watch the program. Love having them close!)
Weston had a long part so we made a little book with pictures of each part so he could remember it. Not like he needed it, though. He had it memorized by the program! He said "There are many things I can do to prepare to be a missionary now such as studying the scriptures, gaining a testimony, keeping the commandments, paying tithing and saving money." He spoke slowly and clearly and wasn't even nervous at all! He'll be a great public speaker like his dad, I think.
Afterwards, so many people came up to me and said how cute my boys are, how handsome they are, how smart they are for memorizing their parts... I just say "Yes, yes, it's true..." :) I love those boys of mine!

Those things are sounding really familiar. I think some of the kids in our ward are saying some of the exact same things. Our program is next week. Sounds like your boys did a good job.
That is awesome! I'm glad our kids have short parts because we are doing remedial singing time here! Our new ward has 13 (yes 13!) songs in the program, and our kids worked on some of them with our ward in Flagstaff, but some of them are different. We'll be singing a lot for the next few weeks- at least the program isn't until mid November!
