Hyrum finally Turns 12!

Hyrum turned 12!  When people ask about him being in YMs or getting kids meals/cheaper tickets, I can no longer say  "He's only 11, I promise!"  He is 120 lbs, size 11 shoe and 5'11".  Hyrum is a big kid with a man voice... Poor little son. :)

But not TOO poor.  We celebrated his birthday pretty low-key, mostly revolving around food, of course.   Hyrum didn't want a big party with his friends so we ended up having a massive pizza challenge (Daddy made a big pizza with a mushroom slice, a hot dog slice, a hot sauce slice and a yellow squash slice... Hyrum ate the entire thing- except the mushroom and onion piece. That, he just couldn't stomach. Plus, he was full :)
Then we did presents with the grandparents and Hyrum went with Bryson and DJ to the Monster Truck show in Spanish Fork and a sleepover.  The next day, Pa picked him up and took him shopping for school jeans, shoes and out to lunch.
We gave Hyrum a new suit.  And he looks spiffy in it. But, I couldn't buy a suit just anywhere. Most places don't have suits in 29 waist and 33 length. So, for Hyrum's 12 year old suit, we headed to the missionary store and bought him a custom sized missionary suit.  While he was trying on suits in the dressing room, another mom who waiting for her son asked me where my son was going on his mission... I said, oh, he's not. He's just turning 12...  Remember, when Hyrum turned 8? I bought him a size 12 suit then.  When Weston turned 8, I bought him a size 8 suit.  When Hyrum turns 12, I buy him a man suit.

On Sunday, all the family came over for Hyrum's ordination to the priesthood.  He looked so handsome in his new suit and it was special to have all the uncles, grandpas and great grandpas there for the blessing.  Zach did a good job too.

Hyrum is still a quiet guy when out of his comfort zone.  He hates being in front of people (the last time he had to sing for Primary- it was Father's day- he went up with all the kids to the stand and then stood on his knees... and didn't sing. He was oh, so glad to turn 12).  He would much rather stay home to hangout and watch a movie than most anything else.  He love to eat- especially pizza and burgers.  We have yet to find a burger that Hyrum can't finish.  Even the "Destroying Angel" burger from Porter's place didn't phase him.   No wonder he grows like a weed!  Hyrum is a Piano Guys fan- he listens to them almost daily as he does homework and jobs- and he almost has 3 of their songs memorized on the piano.  If you can get him to perform, everyone is very impressed by his skills!   We love our Hyrum and I'm excited to see the man he will become!
