Have I ever told you about this little kid named Weston?
He is smart. He is witty. He is funny.
He is gentle. He is sincere. He has the sweetest spirit. He is handsome. He is talented. He is one great kid.
The above pictures are from "Career day" at school. They were supposed to dress up like what they want to be when they grow up. Weston dressed up like Daddy. When Zach asked him what he wanted to be, Weston replied "A high school teacher like you!" Daddy: "What! I'm not a high school teacher!" Weston: "You're not? What are you then?" Daddy: " I teach college!" Weston: "Oh, whatever. It's the same thing..." :)
Weston also thinks deep thoughts. Sometimes it takes him hours to do simple things because he just gets busy thinking about things. Sometime he takes forever to tell you something because his brain is thinking more than he talks, though he still talks a lot. Sometimes his thoughts are even deeper than we can comprehend. The other morning, Weston got up before everyone else. When I woke up, I came out of my room and Weston walked up the stairs and handed me this paper:
"Promises: 1. Be nice. 2.Not eat candy on Sunday 3. Help others 4. Don't cry 5. Do jobs 6. Say prayers 7. Play don't pout 8. Be a friend 9.Share 10. If I don't get it I won't pout."
So maybe he just had a primary lesson that touched him, maybe he read a book about kids that did something like this, I don't know. But, it's a little bit worrisome when your 7 year old, who doesn't have a problem with being nice or sharing or even doing jobs decides to write it all up as a list of 'promises.' You start to wonder if something is wrong, 'are we being good parents?' 'are there mean kids at school?'. After doing a little prying into his little mind, you just hope that he's telling the truth and everything is fine... and that he just wants to be a better person... all on his own... And then you squeeze him a little tighter and treat him a little kinder just because.
Did I tell you about this kid named Weston? He is one special boy.
