So Many Things in Springtime...

First of all- Daddy's birthday! It's like actually the first day of Spring so it's a good place to start... Only problem was, Daddy was in Florida at a conference so we had to wait until the next day when he returned to celebrate...
We made him not one, but two delicious chocolate cakes.

And he was happy to see us.  Afton was very happy to see her dad- she always misses him the most!
And we love our Dad!
Other things in Spring time:

Visiting with Aunt Wendy at Largey's for Sunday dinner
The disgusting coke can the air vent cleaner guys found whilst cleaning our vents- this thing has been there since the house was built. Thanks, builder dudes.

Weston's class read the book Holes.  So Weston decided he better take advantage of all the benefits an onion will give you by eating one raw.  He picked out a sweet onion from the store, brought it home and bit right into it... He did eat a couple bites before his eyes were running and he just couldn't stand it anymore. I love that boy.

My Uncle Jason passed away after a long 20 year battle with cancer.  He had been struggling for a while but it was still hard to see his sweet family be left behind. Em is an amazing mom and wife.

Anika and Pippa are little buddies. Pippa says "I like Ani. She is my friend." and Ani says "Puppa? Puppa!"

Reading stories with Maama. And piano lessons with Maama. She always lets the girls have a turn too and Afton is learning some good songs!  Making baby blankets and big quilts with Maama.  A quilt for Anika's bed. A quilt for Afton's baby and a quilt for Afton's big bed- what lucky girls!

And silly girls- sometimes they both dress up and dance around the living room and my heart is just happy. :)

And sometimes they just play babies all day.  Afton is the ultimate mommy.  She plans birthday parties and baby showers, wraps presents in blankets and treats for the parties, walks around with a baby in her shirt, then calls to let me know when it's been born so I can visit her.  When we go to the store, she has a diaper bag packed for her baby or at least her keys and phone so she can drive and also take any calls- I love it when we are walking into one of the boy's schools and she pulls out her phone "Hello? Oh, hi. We just walked into Cherry Hill. Yes, we are doing books for reading library. We will be home soon. Bye!" Like it's totally common for 4 year olds to be having those conversations on pink Minnie Mouse i-phones...:)  Also,  we just went up to Snowbird for the weekend and Afton packed her own suitcase, then packed a bag for her baby with clothes, bottles, pajamas and blankets; put her baby in the car seat with a blanket over the top and packed her baby port-a-crib; packed it all in the car and then carried it all to the room at Snowbird.  She was a great little mommy the whole time we were there. I love LOVE it.

And she's taught Ani well:).

Also, baseball games! UVU's games are all free with a pass of all passes-sometimes relaxing on the grass and watching a game is a blast.

AND, Cindy was voted Prom Queen!  She will literally take over the world someday..."Maple Mountain today, tomorrow- the World!" That's her motto.  Besides, her boyfriend, Nate, is Mr. Maple Mountain- nothing can come between them and world domination.

My favorite mom babysat my girls and paid for me to take a Wilton cake decorating class at the new JoAnn's in Spanish Fork. What a blast!  I learned a whole lot of new technique, frosting tips and had fun too.  This was my final cake:

And it tasted good too!
Our ward has a little preschool group that Afton was just a little too old for but sometimes they invite us to go on field trips with them- this field trip was walking to Bridal Veil Falls and a picnic.  We love that any day!

This is our neighbor Halee. We brought her with us because sometimes she is a party. Sometimes she is afraid of wind but then she gets over it:)  She and Afton have been good buddies ever since the day she moved in.  They play all day outside together when the weather is nice!  One day, I took the boys to school and when we returned, Halee's dad was just leaving for work. She saw Afton and ran right over... it's 8:30 in the morning and those two girls are on their scooters, in their jammies, telling jokes. BFFs!

We got to attend Grace's play of Shrek Jr- it was a riot.  They were like acting, dancing, singing professionals and the costumes and scenery were great.  We all laughed a lot!  I could always pick Grace out of the crowd, no matter the wig she was wearing...:)

And, FINALLY, duh duh duh!  The moment we had all been waiting for- literally waiting for for weeks and weeks... Zach received the Adjunct Faculty Teacher of the Year Award from BYU!  It came with a nice $250 bonus and a lovely plaque for the wall, plus a nice write up of his teaching and student comments "glowing praises" and exceptionally high scores on his ratings. Yay,Daddy!

We celebrated by taking the kids to a hibachi dinner where the chef comes out and cooks your food right in front of you... this guy was a little disappointing and didn't do all the tricks they usually have up their sleeves but the food was tasty and we did see the burning volcano of onions and he flipped the shrimp to everyone... Plus, Ani ate the food and didn't have a reaction to the soy sauce- that's a relief! Maybe she's grown out of all the allergy things at last!
