Anika turns 1!

Oh, my tiny little babe!  I can't believe she is one year old already- she still seems so little. But then she does something smart that reminds me, oh yeah, she's growing up!

This little girl slept until Daddy left in the morning, was still sleeping when the boys left for school, but finally woke up about 8:30 and was ready to party!

I love this picture :).   She had scrambled eggs for breakfast, had a bath and got ready to go play at Farm Country at Thanksgiving point.  Grandma Norviel, Maama, Pa, Kristi, Cooper, Lydia, Afton and even Daddy came to see Ani see the animals- she loves them!  She squealed and clapped and called to the goats, pigs, ducks (she can say duck 'uck') horses and cows.  She watched Afton ride the pony and was fascinated by the horses pulling the wagon which we rode.  It was fun to have so much family there to celebrate with us!
When the boys returned from school and Ani finally woke up from her nap, we FINALLY got to open presents

She loved (and still loves) a soft fuzzy blankie Afton helped me pick out for Ani.

She got her pink elephant (we took her to Micheal's craft store and let her see all the little Beanie Boos. The one she squealed loudest for was the one we got for her:) And, that night after a dinner of chicken and carrots (some of her favorites) we had a party with all the rest of the family at Westmore park.  I stayed up late the night before making the four layer, raspberry filled pink ombre ruffle cake and smash cake for the one year old...mostly because I just wanted to try it.  We had animal cookies and coconut ice cream for the dairy intolerant girl.

Isn't she the cutest?

Kristi's family, Mom and Dad, Wendy, Grandma and Grandpa Largey, Seth's fam, Giff's fam, Kobi's fam, Grammie and Grandpa, Grandma Norviel and Grandpa Norviel, and even Grandma B and Aunt Beverly came to have cake and celebrate with us.  What a loved little babe!

Now, about Anika: She is just so darn cute. I have a hard time getting things done around the house because every where I go, there she is holding her little hands up to me with a smile saying "Mommy, come pick me up!" Or she's pulling at my pant leg and walking around my chair, begging for a bite of whatever I am eating, Throwing what ever SHE should be eating on the ground and then shaking her finger at me because she KNOWS she shouldn't be doing that.  She shakes her finger a lot- turns out Weston taught her how to do it and now whenever someone tells her no- she understands and shakes her finger.  So, when she is getting in the apple boxes, throwing food on the floor, scratching me when she is mad, putting stuff off the floor into her mouth, etc, she always stops to shake her little finger like "uh, uh. don't do it!"
Afton and I like to go to Music and Movement story time on Mondays and Ani is learning so much from it already!  We always start the class by singing "Heeeellooooo!" with a hand moving like it takes a hat off.  Ani has that move perfected with an accompanying 'aaahhh'.   And during the class, often they say "aaaand STOP" and slap hands to legs when it's time to stop dancing/singing/jumping/etc.  Ani has that move down really well and can say 'ah, DAH.'  She has so many conversation tones that even without the actual vocabulary, you can tell what she is wanting and saying.  I love it!
Anika knows where her toes, her teeth (She had one little bottom tooth and the two SIDE top teeth in for her birthday...um, Jack-o-lantern? Luckily, a week later, she has the second bottom tooth and one of the top front teeth coming through...whew!) her belly button, hair (and how to comb it), hands, and fingers are.  She recognizes names and will turn to each person when their name is called out.  She will blow on food and say " Ot. Ot. phwww" to cool it off.  Smarty pants!
Anika loves to play with Afton and gets so excited to see her every day!  Afton pushes her around on the little airplane or in the laundry basket or even in a shoe box and Ani thinks it's a blast.  She plays babies with Afton and 'helps' with puzzles.   Ani is finally tall enough to touch the piano keys by standing on her toes. She is SO proud of herself when she plays hits the keys and makes noises!
This doesn't even begin to describe how fun our little Ani-girl is.  She is just the cutest little babe- try taking her out in public sometime and you will see how many "Oh, she is so cute!" or "Look at that cute little girl!" you get. Or you just laugh as you watch the reactions of the passerbys when Ani is waving like a banshee at them as they pass by- she still loves to wave at everyone, coming or going in or out of the house, cars, stores... anything.
We really are so happy to have this funny little, sweet tiny girl in our family. Love you, Ani!
