Oh, my baby Anika!
She is just the cutest, funniest little girl a person has ever seen. I seriously get stopped at least once a day by random people saying "Your baby is so beautiful!" or "Aren't you such a pretty girl?" or "I just had to tell you how pretty your baby is-look at those eyes!"
Her large noggin doesn't even detract. Besides being cute beyond compare, she is witty, as well. Look at the twinkle in those eyes:
You just know she is thinking something... I'm sure we'll find out soon because she is already a talker. "Ba ba, mam, ga ga, da da" are already in her vocabulary and we LOVE watching her talk. Her tongue moves in such weird ways and she is still toothless so the little gummy mouth blabbing away cracks me up. Ani is not quiet either. She likes to voice her opinion every chance she gets and the louder the venue, the louder she is. Church is a great place to yell, obviously, because there are lots of people to talk to. Family parties with lots of kids running around and adults talking loud REALLY encourage volume from Ani's little lungs. She happily yells "BA! AH!" all night. Anika also has a great sense of humor- meaning, she laughs at things all the time, even me and I 'm not hardly ever funny! You don't have to tickle her to get a great laugh- a funny face, some anticipation, a happy skip, or laughing yourself and she laughs right back. I love it!
More new fun for the month of 6 included a trip to the Gastroentologist, Thomas Sutton, to see what he would say about her Milk and Soy Protein Intolerance (MSPI). Just after her 6 m. b-day, she had a horrid reaction and I realized it was from soy (I had Asian food the night before-no dairy). I panicked a little, did a bunch of research on MSPI, took her off solids completely to help her gut heal and made the appointment with the GI doc. He basically agreed with my 'mom' diagnosis and treatment (cutting out dairy and soy, delaying food, feeding her basics) and gave me a paper with the order of introducing solids to an allergy baby (which isn't QUITE right for a MSPI baby), said to put Culteralle in her cereal to help her colon heal and gave me some peace of mind- her symptoms are mild, she'll grow out of it, blood in her stool sometimes isn't dangerous and I'm doing fine. Best $40 I've spent for a while!
So, with that diagnosis, Ani happily started foods again- lots of rice cereal, green beans, squash and now sweet potatoes. She loves them all!
Other accomplishments include sitting up on her own- What a slow poke compared to the other kids! It's so nice to be able to set her down to play with toys!. She is still a horrible 'tummy-timer'. When set on her tummy, she immediately flips right over to her back...and that's it. No rolling back over or scooting or creeping- it'll a be a while before she crawls. (I'm good with that!)
Ani also has clapping ALMOST down. She does the motion a lot but only sometimes gets her hands actually together... it's coming.
We love this little girl so much!
