We snagged Bryson and Maama to drive with us up to Salt Lake to the Clark Planetarium where we hit the "Black Hole" movie in the dome theater. Awesome. I know more about black holes than I ever thought possible. For a while, I wondered if Hyrum and Weston even enjoyed it because it was a very technical show and was sometimes way over even MY science loving brain. :) But, I shouldn't have worried- the boys understood more than I did, I think! Afton, on the other hand, just wanted to climb around and break her glow stick all over the chair and the floor and my clothes...
The rest of the planetarium was just as cool and all free, too. There was lots of stuff to watch, touch and do. Try it, you'll like it!

Actually, on Friday, the boys went with Daddy on the ward Father and Son's campout. They had a blast and even slept well, ate well, and socialized. It just adds to the birthday fun. :)
The Cake:
It's a solar system of course, complete with moon and asteroid belt. Hyrum helped me decorate the planets and did Jupiter all by himself. Nice!

My family came over Saturday night for cake and presents and we reveled in Robby's decorating skills:

Sunday was Hyrum's real birthday so after church we took our Solar system and went to Largey Grandma's for Party #2.

Um, we're just showing off the suit, not Hyrum's posing skills! Anyway, he looked awesome and handsome and so grown up. I really can't believe he is 8 years old because it doesn't seem like that long ago that I was eight! As excited as I am for him to start 3rd grade, I'll be sad for him to be gone all day again. He is the best helper especially with Afton, laundry, dishes, getting his jobs done, etc. This summer, he wakes up before everyone (like usual) and just hangs out reading a book (Magic tree house have been the favorite lately)until Afton wakes up. Then he runs in to get her so I get to sleep in. It's the best! We just moved his bedroom downstairs and made it into a Space room with glow in the dark stars on the ceiling, planets on the walls, glowing star pillow cases, and even pictures we painted of a rocket and a black hole. That makes him seem even ore grown up!
